I'm not sure of the relevance anyway, these were private contracts.

reminds me of the contracts they paid for LAUSD - in Los Angeles... They paid 100 million for a new computer accounting system - so far some people haven't been paid in 6 months or get 8$ pay checks. Now the people who sold it want more money to fix it... Ridiculous how people try to hose the gov

Do you know what a no-bid contract is? A cost-plus contract? The government actively encourages this kind of corruption. Ever since the end of the initial invasion they've handed out these corrupt contracts to every siftless reconstruction firm that wants one because it's a giant fucking money sink. I'd rather the president just give all these douchebags a giant suitcase of taxpayer money, at least it'd be more honest.

Who is responsible for the oversight? Leave it up to the government to create a horrible incentives system and this is what you get.

I guess you're right. Take oversight out completely and things will work out much better.

nobody's saying remove the oversight. all eradicate said was that the things they're overseeing have brought us to the shitheap we're in now. they just have to overhaul the government's role in the private market... not hijack the entire thing so that the government can fuck the WHOLE thing up instead of just a vital piece.

that's a pretty disturbing article too. i hate our government so much. who would possibly vote to give them more power? and don't say it's just this administration. our government's been this shitty since WWII.

No, you really don't understand. Eradicate seriously believes markets need to be totally unregulated.

This country's been shitty for awhile but to try and equivocate and say Bush is just as bad as any post-WWII administration, especially when it comes to waste and corruption, is nothing but idiotic rhetorical fluff.

ya you guys are so clever, too bad I didn't say that

"The government actively encourages this kind of corruption."
ghostnuke agrees with me, too bad he is too retarded to recognize that this isn't a problem exclusive to the Iraq war but to government in general

bad incentives and central planning

Oh, so government oversight is ineffective and only hampers efforts but you're not for completely eliminating it? I thought the freer the market, the freer the people?

the RIAA and the record labels are proving that 'the freer the market, the freer the people,' is false with every second in the day.

but look at the government's inability to run programs that don't have massive political opposition... public schools, social security, emergency relief, etc. then look at the programs that do face some opposition (though not as staunch as that against social healthcare): welfare, military, etc. they're worthless. i wouldn't trust them enough to coach a little league baseball team.

if you cut it completely free, the greed of the few will run everyone into the ground. if you can harness the greed and point it in the right direction, it will be your most powerful tool.
