Why did the nhl switch away jerseys to home jerseys and vice versa? And when did this happen?

They started this season because NHL officials hadn't made any stupid decisions recently and needed to catch up.

hahaha, funny and true as hell.
I think they found that the home jerseys were an added advantage, since the Jersey's were mostly White, and the players blend a little with the ice. I guess they felt Home ice was advantage enough, and switched to the Dark jerseys for home games. This is speculation, but I heard Pierre McGuire (Well known, Ex-St.Louis Blues Coach, extremely knowledgable hockey guru. Insider!) was saying that this was one of the major reasons they made the change. The NHL also cited that they thought Fans deserved to see their teams in full colors for home games.
If you'll notice, on average Road wins are up this season, so its looking like McGuire was right. _________________ We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

I remember hearing at the start of the season that the reason was the alternate 3rd jerseys are in away colours and the home team can decide at a moments notice whether they want to showcase their 3rd jersey at home game (ie. scam dumbass fans into buying an ugly piece of shit). This meant the visiting team would have to cart around the home AND away jerseys while on the road which is pretty lame.

i live in stl and the year the rams won the super bowl, everyone bought jerseys during the season cause of the rams success. immiately after winning the super bowl, the rams changed their jerseys and everyone bought another one and had two new jerseys. i thought it was funny. i don't like football either. now the rams suck again and people are like "who are the rams??"

originally the color jerseys were the home jerseys, and they switched to the whites a while back, now they just switched back.. _________________ ~Mage

Also very true.
And yeah, I think 3rd Jersey's were also a factor. Its never easy to get a straight answer from the NHL. Could be anything really. _________________ We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
