How do I recreate the partition of my usb flash drive?

I accidently deleted the partition on my 32mb drive (in winxp install program) and when I try to recreate it, it only shows as 24mb. Any ideas anyone?

Other question: I wanna play with Linux. I made a 7 gb partition on my laptop for it, and I have a copy of redhat 9.0. Should I install redhat or can someone suggest a different distrobution? The truth is, I've been using redhat for a week or two and I dont like it. It's slow (X windows) and it doesnt recognise my sound card (although I know ALSA does, I just have no idea how to install ALSA) and it cant find my Lexmark USB printer.

So anyhow, nice to see you all again.

Yeah topics been discussed lots. their are tons of options, most people on these boards hate red hate. I love redhat, been using it since 5.0, and will continue using it as the linux o/s of choice. Your soundcard and printer just need drivers. Try downloading them. I don't know why your windows X is slow, but it shouldn't be. My guess is your video cards not configured properly, maybe you should download new drivers for that also. Last thing, linux will only work for you if you work for it. You cant just install and use like windows. You gotta know what your doing.

Edit- Also your flash problem sounds like your new partition is not compressed. Your flash card is only 24mb but with compression it was larger. When you partition a new drive you gotta go and compress it after, so make sure you partition it in a compressable format.

Hey thanks $hzam. I think you hit it on the nail.

The only problem is that windows will only let me format it as FAT, and windows only lets you compress a NTFS partition. I know FAT can be formatted - I was a big fan of DriveSpace back in the day. Any advise on what I should do?
