The only 'effect' I can spot is the correction of shadow on the first pic and maybe some brigtness adjustment which causes the 'washed out' overexposed foreground?

Or maybe a high EV? (exposure value)

What I was looking at is the edges of the two dudes on the left. Specifically up by the hairline. It's brighter than the rest and looks off. That's all.

Could just be the HD camera or something but it seemed weird.
