Reliable AntiVirus

Can anyone reccomend a reliable anti-virus that isn't going to fuck up your entire system and start restricting everything, etc when you download it? Extra points for it being free or easy to find on Kazaa (Without a virus).

I use AVG for Windows - it's free including the updates, no horseshit cracking or any of that and no spyware loopholes in the EULA

It's funny you posted AVG. I downloaded it 2 days ago before I ran fdisk and it managed to fuck up my computer. I had to uninstall it in safemode and such.

Pc-cillin is by far the best antivirus I have seen so far.

Sorry to hear - did you fuck up your computer with fdisk or with AVG? I run Win98 and I only boot Windows for games, so it's not in 24/7 use and I can't vouch for the quality on newer Windows OSs

Well, I had a little bit of spyware thanks to my siblings using my computer and so I figured I'd download the programs that I wanted, put them on disks, virus scan them, and then fdisk and reinstall everything.

Well, the problem was that AVG ended up detecting viruses in all of the brand new freeware that I had just downloaded (ie google popup blocker install, winzip, etc) among other things. Thus, I had to go into safe mode and remove the application (as it wouldn't remove itself because it jewed even itself) and then start making CDs.

I run XP btw, and thanks Showdown.

Update:

(I just wrote this and it got deleted somehow ..)

It turned out all of my programs that I put on disk had some virus on them, so maybe AVG wasn't quite so bad. PC-Cillin managed to get rid of all the viruses on my computer as far as I know (there were already around 200 from that one disk of mainly freeware ... goes to show how fast viruses can spread I guess).

Also, I ran ad aware and got rid of all of the spyware stuff, but it keeps coming back and I keep deleting it, but it's kind of obviously a waste of time ... There's always a couple of cookies that I don't recognize in my cookies folder, and those are always the files that I need to delete. How is this spyware/virus staying alive to spread into my cookies and put their pop-ups up? The cookie files in my folder that I don't recognize are called:
tightinn@clickagents[1]
tightinn@edge.ru4[1]
tightinn@offeroptimizer[2]
tightinn@rightmedia[2]

So any idea how to fix this SpyWare problem?

Thanks.

Get spyboy s&d. It's better than Adaware and 100% free no "personal use only" eula stuff like adaware.
