GhostNuke, you should have bet that religious guy.

Also, next South Park will feature Kyle finally seeing Mel Gibson's Masterpiece!

remember when you said it'd be bigger than all the lotr movies combined?

and ocram's right it'll be out of the top twenty in two years, just look at the top 20 and then look at when those movies were released. probably at least 3 more movies this year will make it into the top 20, just because of the rapidly increasing ticket prices.

View the list adjusted for inflation and see how it ranks since that is a more accurate list.

Saying it was bigger than all three of the lotr movies was a blatent over exaggeration. I just never thought it was important for me to point it out, but now I see you'll just keep bringing it up.

All you are doing is trying to justify you were wrong, and you were wrong big time.

i would say its more important than 99% of the films in that list.

And yeah, its the definitive Jesus flick now. Mostly due to the controversy.

Probably. The only Jesus movie that lasted longer then a week was Ben-Hur, and Jesus was in the film a total of 30 seconds.

Lets face it, its a delicate subject matter, and this new film about it has gotten an aweful lot of attention for being so gruesome, and all the anti-semetic heresay you can shake a broom at.

and I don't know if anyone's going to hate Jews after seeing it

when the last temptation of christ came out the controversy coming from protestants was at least as loud as the jews with this one

Biggest doesn't translate to greatest, and it is the definitive jesus film.

There isnt a Jesus movie out there that had any profound impact period. Fact is, Ben-Hur was given the tag line "A Story in parallel with HIS life". It was meant to be about Jesus, without actually being ABOUT JESUS. Or so the Director of the film opined. And Ben-Hur is still considered a great film, that people still think about and watch.

This movie is different from the others, since its only the last 12 hours of his life, which is a part of his life that most filmakers have done a great job avoiding. The Last Temptation of Christ never had this much fanfare going on around it.
