I just sent a PM to the guy in charge of adding new games on the Voobly forums and linked to our petition. He hasn't been online since October 7th tho, so lets see how this goes.

Downloading of maps is irrelevant really. I did post as my name over on the poll though. Only the super old players would recognize the name, the rest of them would just read the beginning part of the name and put 2/2 together to figure out its me lol. I was the 2nd "Yes" vote. My guess is that Ganz was the 1st heh. Moving to a Kali/Kahn IPX type of service is a great option to solve the hosting issues that plague War2 today. I had absolutely NO idea that any IPX services still existed. I would even consider using the Older non-bnet War2 version if it made the switch easier. I never really was a fan of shared vision anyway. I like the old system of using balloons or talking about whats going on. Scouting was far far far more critical in pre-bne worlds. Even watchers had to use balloons lol. And the wood bug would be a nice option to have back especially since I still find myself doing it even to this day.

Yep, I was the first vote. I've been playing AOE2 on voobly once in a while for the past couple years and it dawned on me that they had just about every other classic RTS game except war2.

I think bnet version will work fine on voobly as I remember people used it on heat.net when it first came out (remember the version 1.7x). Also, I have played with friends before on kali with it so it should be fine.

I think moving would be cool. I also think that playing LAN has greatly increased, the type of hacks used.

Maybe they will host a pvpgn for all the battle.net games.

Well I will test for verification. LAN has a built in setting to enable cheats that can be easily made and setup 0 and 1 just like map hack. I pretty sure it will be easier to cheat.

The IPX is the same as that used on the pre-bne version. There is no difference, cheats are not enabled for IPX Network play. When BNE came out, they simply added a new mode "Battle.net" mode. They never changed the old IPX related modes. Single player != Lan/IPX or even direct connect via modem.
