I won a tournament game once, live over the board, against a 1600 player who was up a rook and two pieces. Allowing it to get under your skin that your opponent won't resign only helps justify why they don't resign. Treat it as an exercise on how to close out games quickly, or, what I do, is humiliate them by under promoting to bishops and knights or constructing a pretty checkmate.

i won a game against a 1450 guy because he ran out of time, then i submitted the game to computer analysis on chess.com:

Inaccuracies: 13 = 25.0% of moves
Mistakes: 4 = 7.7% of moves
Blunders: 6 = 11.5% of moves

lol almost half my moves were errors of some sort

An inaccuracy as such is not inherently bad as opposed to a blunder or a mistake Smile

Yo man I need a simple set of 4-5 instructions of how to get arena working to analyse games. I tried but it did not show me the "+" and "-" for moves.
Thanks!

load the game and click the "edit" button that is below the window that says the moves, then press "Analyze". at the bottom of the screen it will tell you the best line for the given position for the player that has to move, and their +/-. these numbers are opposite for black and white - so if white has +1, it means black is -1. u can then see how good or bad your moves were by checking the moves before and after the one you are interested in seeing

for the noobs - have u guys read about the greek gift sacrifice? it's an attacking pattern that arises very commonly in games. here's an article on it http://www.chess.com/article/view/the-greek-gift-sacrifice-lives-on

i used it in a game and raped this guy http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=790638622 he blundered horribly on move 16

I just call that the Bishop sacrifice. It is good when black has weak control over the b1-h7 diagonal. If he has no good way to defend this diagonal after the sac, chances are the sac will work.

There is a really good book which breaks down this sacrifice called Art of Attack in Chess by Vladimir Vukovic (The Classic Bishop Sacrifice pg 121).

some good articles by silman, the guy that wrote the book messiah has spoken well of:

http://www.chess.com/article/view/you-have-it-he-doesnrsquot-part-2
http://www.chess.com/article/view/you-have-it-he-doesnrsquot-part-1

i feel that these are a little more advanced as they are about positional ideas like controlling diagonals and exploiting holes, but i think i learned a lot even as a n00b
