SOPA/PIPA
So I'm just reading up on the drama with this new Bill your shit government wants to pass...
Man, you guys in the states are really having your civil liberties get fucked aren't you?
I'm almost starting to feel sorry for you guys--if it wasn't for the fact that so many down there still vote for these hard-core Republicans.
Your Republicans make our Conservative Party look like Liberal extremists.

I didn't realize that thread was about SOPA/PIPA because none of those sites were 'blocked' for me or had anything different on them.

Yes, but there was still pretty decent support. Something like 22-10 to move the vote up and get it passed quickly.

kith is kith (liberal extremist) so he probably checked google.ca and some canadian craigslist site. i dunno why his wiki isn't blocked unless he just used it to look up SOPA, which isn't blocked (for me at least)

After declaring a daylong blackout of some of the Web's most popular and influential sites to protest the proposed SOPA and PIPA antipiracy bills, including Wikipedia and Wired magazine, momentum has largely shifted away from the legislation. Several key legislators have backed off (the House has tabled it, the Senate is mulling a later re-visit and the White House announced major opposition) and Internet activists are celebrating a victory.
But the dust hasn't entirely settled yet. Some key provisions of the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect Intellectual Property Act could potentially re-make the ways music is listened to, watched and traded online should Congress re-visit the legislation, or even pieces of it.
SOPA and PIPA: What's still at stake for music?
This is probably going to be back in the next year or two. Except the bill will have a much friendlier name. Like the Fuzzy Bunny Act(FBA), or the Internet Freedom Act(IFA). _________________ Give me a lever long enough and I shall move the world. - Archimedes

that sucks... i'd just stop using publicly tracked torrents, sign up to usenet and I don't think you can really be tracked.
I'm lucky because A: I'm in Canada and B: My internet provider doesn't give a fuck

lol this was hardly hard-core republicans. from everything i read on it the support was pretty much split up by age, with younger members hating it and older ones liking it. it was sponsored by at least one member from both parties i think too. proof positive that we can crank out world-ruining shit on a bipartisan basis too. maybe they should go back to not agreeing on anything. _________________ “Imagine If You Wrapped A Percocet In A Slab Of Bacon, Fed It To A Woolly Mammoth, And Shouted ‘Dance, Hairy Boyfriend, Dance’ – That’s Torche.” -- Mike Huckabee
