Patch 12

Ouch, roach supply cost doubled.

StarCraft II Beta -- Patch 12 (version 0.14.0.15343)

The latest patch notes can always be found on our StarCraft II Beta General Discussion forum.

Balance Changes


PROTOSS
Forge
Build time increased from 35 to 45.
Life and shield values decreased from 550/550 to 400/400.
Mothership
Vortex now removes Force Fields within its area of effect.


TERRAN
Thor
Radius decreased from 1.375 to 0.8125.
Model size reduced to match new radius.


ZERG
Roach
Supply count increased from 1 to 2.

i've always thought they were a pretty good fucking unit to be 1 supply

i'd be ok with them getting 2 armor back if they're going to be 2 supply though

They're testing the waters. I could see all the roach nerfs leading into some marauder/stalker nerfs as well. Just to rebalance tier 1/1.5 a little better.

I wonder if the Idra vs tlo had anything to do with it. so did terran just get better again? thors smaller with the same fire power?

Does making them smaller reduce their range in some directions? If they take up less space they're further away from things on 3 sides.

lings are the only 1 food combat unit for zerg making them far less of a swarm than in original sc.

I don't see how that would be a factor. right now Thors are too big. I think making them smaller will improve Terran.

just forces the roach upgrades to be researched for roaches to be worth it.

basically the same as marauders/stalkers

Roach patch is good imo

Sick of the 1 base 6 roach rush that zerg do vs protoss, i find it one of the hardest things to fend off

Thor, good change it was to big and dumb looking


Mothership... Um? i hate that unit.. huge gimic unit.. doesnt get used in pro play and is normally only made when massin to 200/200

Should be removed from mutli and replaced with a proper unit

Vortex is one of the dumbest cheapest spells in the game - it's a command and comnquer type spell/unit i guess the idea came from dustin himself /rant


Forge had no problems with the timings? doesnt really bother me but seems a bit pointless? maybe 2 slow down cannon rushes.. but 10 seconds isnt goin do much

The forge is significantly slower. Just played a game with it. Makes it harder to throw up cannons when you spot that you need them. It just makes protoss defense weaker while I guess making cannon rushing less feasible. I don't really like this change. Sort of a newbie saver.

I've only been playing this a few hours, but I've yet to see a single zerg player. Did Patch 12 scare most to Toss/Terran?

I think zerg are better. It is so hard to stop a zerg dual and they don't need roaches for that.

hmmm guess i need to figure out what works now. Did a normal FE as zerg and the terran did quick marines which i fought off with some spine crawlers/zergs. Then he proceeds to marine/tank rush me and i can't do shit.

what did u try to defend with? roaches with speed and a bit of lings mixed in are probably your best bet against an early tank and marine push, i think. i haven't really played 1v1 in a long time. banlings rape marines in a small mmm ball but im not sure how they are against a significant amount of tanks. mutas are also still really good against T despite thor aoe and range.

not really sure, but, if this was still relatively early game and you had roach and hydra, you may have teched too much too early. you may have been better off waiting on the hydras and getting more lings and roaches if he wasn't getting banshees or lots of marauders.

soon as i downloaded it it told me to get the fuck outa here with my failware


when the game starts it tells me my computer is slowing down the game
i get 6-8 fps
pretty sure if any of my hardware(esp my fx 5500) were any older i couldnt run it at all Embarassed

so what hardware you guys have and what graphic settings are you using and what fps are you getting?

2 year old vaio, i run it on mediumish with some settings on low and some on high after some experimenting to see what works.

decent framerate. it only falls to about 20 fps in a huge game when i click on pylons or try to build something as toss

Protoss are very natural to use after playing war2. Still, I think they are the weakest race right now. I'm thinking of learning terran or Zerg.

i def. dont think toss are the weakest race. there's some op shit in the game (marauders) but the races on the whole are pretty balanced imo. the big problem is some maps really favor certain races (desert oasis) and some strats and builds counter others so hard it gets kind of rock paper scissors at times

toss is certainly weak in some situations but if you think they're the weakest race i think you're just not playing them right or getting frustrated, no offense (i'm given to the same kind of hyperbole after frustrating losses)
