PCs are virtually 'unbrickable' nowadays....Except for the HDD maybe to some extent ...

i need to find a site to post my pictures so i can link them here to the fourm....the inside of my computer looked like a vaccum canister that was full....no way in hell could i find the jumper and grab ahold of the battery to reset my bios....and as dirty as it was after 5 years of smoking around it....I WAS TRYING TO OC' IT ROFL

as i found in one post....Q: as long as its working and seems stable again, anything i should try or check? A: hell why not try oc'ing it again!

it actuallly took half a dozen or so attempts to bring her around. i had to reset the bios multiple times...imagine my shock when it finally past post, then the load screen before windows...TO SEE WINDOWS XP...stupid fuck wrong HDD

the HDDs were the worst collectors of dirt...they could not be found. 2nd worst was the fans.

the mobo was almost pristeen...the radiator with the liquid cooler was a little dirty. the sound card and video card had collected a layer *the video card needs propped up man its fuking sagging and drooping and warping*

antec 900 case rocks....everything came apart....even the top and be dissasembled...if the whole thing did not come apart there was no hope of a revive...the hdds have to have shit caked inside

man i want to share these rofl @ my computer dirty picures.... i actually thought there was no way after the hour of failed boot attempts.

this thing even got 2 hand shoved off a table once on purpose and it didnt even turn off..just bent the frame a bit but i fixed it.

you'll destroy ur cpu if u dont clear out that dust. the fans & "radiators" (heat sinks?) need to be cleared too.

especially if you're going to o/c looooooooooooooooooooooool

yea i had a nice oc going even with the grime and grime bunnies

the liquid cooler has a fan/radiator combo

this time im going to have the 2 fans on each side of the hdds instead of both flowing the same direction im going to have them both blow away from them... the inside fan to point at the mobo and the outside fan blow outward....hopefully it will not return to being a dirt canister...

this thing acted like the millienium falcon as much difficulty it had comming back to life...but finally comming back online.

if it wasnt for the case(antec 900 is a thing of beauty) i chose it would have bricked and remained bricked.

i was cleaning and upgrading an older system because it was easier than tackling this thing....very nice dispite being a little dated....had a short or two in it...replaced a bad fan...upgraded with leftovers from another system...thinking this old stock psu needs replaced....when i plugged it in the fucker litterally shot sparks into my face...i took the psu out and tried 2 times and one being after taking the psu appart and it still shot sparks heh heh....hope a new psu makes her great again...classic last gen model....

Its hard to kill a decent CPU nowadays. Shit just halts or throttles down!

Except if you're messing with voltage when Overclocking

Yeah of course. But then again, if you're an idiot and don't have basic common sense (operating withing CPUs working voltage range), you will pay the price.

Researching your stuff before and OCing in steps is the way to go.

Edit: I've used an OCed PC on less than default volts and it worked (brand new PC)
After some years, the same OC would need at least stock voltages.
I've also underclocked and undervolted my CPU for about 1 year.
Currently running it at stock speed/undervolted.

I want to upgrade too but waiting on the next gen Intel CPUs to hit the shelves + reviewed first! Hopefully, AMD can come with something competitive.
